TRANSPORTATION

We need to get Los Angeles moving again. Traffic congestion plagues our city, particularly the Westside. We can no longer tolerate wasting hours each day in gridlocked streets. It robs us of time with our families and confines us to pockets of our city.

I am actively working to improve present traffic conditions, by advocating that we:

  • Build a 21st Century public transportation system, including light rails, linking our neighborhoods to LAX, beaches, downtown and other popular destinations.
  • Complete the Exposition Boulevard rail line to the beach.
  • Complete the Wilshire Boulevard Red Line subway.
  • Extend the Green Line into LAX.
  • Develop a north-south light rail or mass transit line, probably along Lincoln Boulevard.
  • Reduce the amount of commuter traffic in residential neighborhoods.
  • Increase traffic calming measures.
  • Add more left-turn lanes and pockets with longer signals.
  • Add more clean fuel and fuel-efficient buses with dedicated bus lanes.

During my campaign for office, I published a detailed transportation agenda. It is my blueprint and my plan of action now that I am in office.
